الفيلم تناول أكثر من قصه، فتناول قصة يحيى المحب التمثيل والذي عبر عن يوسف شاهين في فترة شبابه كما تناول طبيعة الحياة الأجتماعية في الإسكندرية وذلك عن طريق قصة حب بين شاب مصري وهو إبرهيم وفتاة يهودية وهي سارة. كما تطرق الفيلم للسياسة وذلك عن طريق قصة مجموعة من الشباب يريدون التخلص من الاحتلال الأنجليزى، وتطرق أيضا عن نشأة العصابات اليهودية وكيف ان يحيى فقد صديقه بسبب انضمامه لهذه العصابات. الفيلم يدعو إلى التسامح الديني كما رآه يوسف شاهين في صغره حين كان له صديق يهودى. كما يظهر شاهين في الفيلم شدة حبه للفن وتأثره بالسينما منذ الصغر.

ابتسامة واحدة تكفي

تعمل أميرة بإحدى الشركات وتشعر بالقلق من مستقبل مجهول، تتعرف على مصطفى وهو فى طريقه إلى بعثه بالخارج، يعدها مصطفى بالزواج عندما يعود من البعثة تقتنع أميرة بذلك. تمر سنوات فى انتظار رسالة من مصطفى كى يكمل وعده، تعيش على حلم الانتظار لقادم لا يأتى. فى الوقت الذى يرسل القدر إليها شابًا آخر. صلاح مهندس شاب متفتح للحياة، يكوّن صداقة جديدة معها، هذه الصداقة تأخذ منحنى آخر لدى صلاح فهو يحبها، تتدخل سلوى وتحاول إقناعها بحب صلاح، وأن لاقادم هذا لابد وأن يكون قد حدث له من التغيرات الكثير، لا توافق، إلى أن يظهر مصطفى فى حياتها. حيث تكتشف أن هناك تغيرات حدثت له. لذا تقرر أن تعدل فى استجاباتها سريعًا، وتبادل صلاح حبًا بحب وتوافق على الزواج منه.

أحلى أيام العمر

ممدوح، محامى يعيش بين مكتبه وزوجته حنان، فى المكتب يتردد عملاء منهم نوال التى قررت اصطياد ممدوح، تبدأ المقابلات وبعد سهرة تخبره نوال بأنه اعتدى عليها، تختفى نوال فترة، ثم تعاود الظهور وتدعى أنها حامل، يضطرب ولا يدرى ماذا يفعل، تخبره أنها فى حاجة أن تكون إلى جواره بمنزله، وتذهب إلى منزله، ويدعى ممدوح أن حنان ابنة عمه، إلا أن زوجته حنان تكتشف كذب زوجها وتترك المنزل، يحاول ممدوح اللحاق بها، يصاب فى حادث ينقل على أثره إلى لامستشفى، تذهب إليه حنان، بينما تشعر نوال أنها حملت ممدوح أكثر مما يحتمل ، تعترف لحنان بالحقيقة وأنها حامل من زميل لها تخلى عنها. تموت وهى تلد مولودها، لتعود السعادة ترفرف على حياة الزوجين.

فى إثينا تقوم فتاة مدللة بالتنزه مع صديق لها رؤوف الذى يقوم بعمل جولات حرة فى العاصمة، تكتشف أنها فى مأزق حقيقى، فقد قام رؤوف بسرقة مجوهراتها ليلة زفافها إليه، وهو الشاب الذى تركت مصر من أجله، لا تعرف كيف تواجه عمها وخطيبها وشريك العم وسط هذه الحيرة، تصطدم بأحد الأشخاص، أنه حمدى، الذى تطلب منه أن يقوم بالتمثيل بأنه زوجها أمام عمها وخطيبها طارق، بعد أن فقدت الحيلة فى البحث عن رؤوف، يوافق حمدى مقابل مبلغا من المال، وهما فى طريق العودة بالمركب. يتنامى الحب بينهما، ويعرف طريقه إلى القلب وتتبدل الغربة، إلى لغة السعادة، تعرف أن حمدى ليس عاطلا، بل هو صحفى وأن شكواه له عن عمها وشريكه قد فتح أمامه تحقيقًا صحفيًا من أجل أن يرسم لها صورة مغايرة عما يعرفه، فقد اكتشف حمدى أن العم وشريكه، ما هما إلا شريكين فى عمليات تهريب. يقرر فضحهما أمام نادية، يثور ويقرر الرحيل، وأثناء سفر حمدى إلى الخارج يعرف أن نادية تحبه، تلحق به للسفر معه، يتم زواجهما.
